Easier Criteria for Critical Workers to Move to New Zealand

The updated work visa criteria in New Zealand will benefit business owners wanting to bring in skilled laborers from abroad.

The changes have been made due to the many concerns being voiced by companies struggling to fill open positions with the needed workers. The old rules stated that immigrants had to have experience or received technical skills that they couldn’t obtain in New Zealand.

Now the criteria reads that the skills or experience is not “readily obtainable” in the country. The change in wording reflects that the limited pool of significant training and experts made it challenging to get the requirements covered in NZ. If you are considering relocating for the perfect job opportunity, contact Jobs Across the World. Your qualifications will be matched with the opening that best suits your skillset. It doesn’t matter where you are located.

Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi said by removing the previous requirements, it will allow workers to enter the country where they already have the skills that are obtainable in New Zealand, but the unique experience they gained while abroad will bring a different expertise to the company.

The new criteria will provide clarity for companies asking for a border exception for these skilled, critical workers. Faafoi said they will continue to coordinate the number of immigrants coming to New Zealand due to the Covid-19 controls.
